Current Responsibility

Melissa is responsible for the firm’s European region captive management activities along with oversight of certain clients in Washington D.C. and Vermont.  She is responsible for a portfolio of clients ensuring that the outstanding quality of service attributed to SRS is applied to those accounts in order to deliver on their insurance, financial and underwriting reporting needs, while monitoring and advising on compliance with regulation and licensing requirements. 

Experience

Melissa joined SRS in September 2010 and has been in captive management since 2000.  She has extensive experience with a wide variety of captive companies, including single parent, group, special purpose, sponsored, association and industrial insured captives.  She was  an insurance accounting instructor for the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (“ICCIE”), a Director and past President of the District of Columbia captive association, is a Director of the National Risk Retention Association and served on the Legislative Committee of the Delaware captive association.

Managing Director, SRS Europe, Switzerland and Liechtenstein

Current Responsibility

Markus is Managing Director of SRS Europe with responsibility for the firm’s captive management operation in Switzerland & LiechtensteinIn this role, he is responsible for the oversight of SRS’s clients and staff as well as regulatory liaison, new business development and relationship management for clients domiciled in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. 

Experience

Markus joined SRS in April 2021 from Aon Insurance Managers (Switzerland/Liechtenstein) where, since 2015, he held several roles including Senior Risk Finance Consultant, Chief Compliance Officer and Managing Director of Captive Operations. He has over twenty five years of underwriting and financial management experience in the European and Swiss non-life insurance industry, including serving as the Deputy CFO and Head of Sales Management/Controlling and ART at Nationale Suisse GroupMarkus began his career with Generali where he was Senior Manager Broker markets for five years before moving to Hiscox in Munich where he was Senior Underwriter and Key Account Manager for eight years.

Managing Director, SRS Europe, Guernsey

Current Responsibility

Peter is Managing Director, SRS Guernsey and is responsible for the delivery of the firm’s captive management services to Guernsey clients as well as driving the firm’s expansion into various European captive domiciles. 

Experience

Peter joined SRS in July 2021. Prior to joining SRS Peter was responsible for the European offices of Artex Risk Solutions and was a member of Artex’s worldwide Executive Committee. Over the preceding 13 years with Artex he fulfilled the roles of Managing Director, Guernsey and Client Service Director on a wide range of captive and commercial insurance clients.

His background is in underwriting, having trained as a trade credit and political risks underwriter with the company that is now called Euler Hermes in the 90s prior to returning to Guernsey in 2001 where he worked for the Guernsey Financial Services Commission prior to taking up a position in industry. He worked briefly for Aon before joining Heritage, an independent management company, that latterly became Artex, in 2008.

He has worked with captive clients from industries as diverse as travel, finance, mining, legal, hospitality, printing, logistics and aviation. He has also delivered services to commercial insurers and reinsurers as well as Insurance Linked Security vehicles.

He is a past chairman of the Guernsey International Insurance Association and is currently the chair of its Market Development Committee and UK Market Access working group.

Managing Director, SRS Europe, Luxembourg Branch

Current Responsibility

Brian is responsible for managing the captive operations in Luxembourg as well as assisting client operations internal to the group. Captive management operations include management of client portfolio, consistent achievement of accurate, timely financial reporting, preparation of accounts as needed, supervisory financial review of staff work product, ensuring timely and accurate regulatory filings, internal and external stakeholder relationships, local office management and assist with new business as needed based on domicile activity.

Experience

Brian was formerly the licensed manager, and ran, the insurance and reinsurance captives of the Randstad group in Luxembourg, which focused on the employee benefits of the group’s 700,000 employees.

Prior to that, Brian worked at Marsh’s captive solution for over 20 years, in both Luxembourg and Dublin, leaving as Senior Vice President. There, he managed a portfolio of 40+ international clients with his team of 16 colleagues, as well as being the Luxembourg member of the Solvency II Implementation committee and the Global IT Steering committee.

Director of Accounting, SRS Europe, Guernsey

Current Responsibility

Elyse joined Strategic Risk Solutions Europe (SRS Europe) in June 2021 as Director of Accounting SRS Guernsey. Elyse is supporting the firm’s expansion into various European captive domiciles as well as focusing on the captive management client services delivery platform.

Experience

Elyse joined SRS Europe following 5 years with Willis Towers Watson (WTW), where she served as Account Director, leading teams in all aspects of captive management, including onboarding new clients, license approvals, capitalization, regulatory compliance and accounting. Her portfolio included a diverse range of clients, from small privately owned captives to larger ICC, PCC and reinsurance vehicles.

Elyse also provided accounting technical expertise and was a key member of the Willis Global Captive Technical focus group for implementation of IFRS 17 as well as being selected for the Willis Global Leadership Development Program.

Prior to her role with WTW, Elyse qualified as an accountant and held the position of Senior Manager with PwC in Guernsey where she was responsible for the effective management and leadership of audit teams focusing on clients in the financial services industry, specializing in the audits of Captive Insurance and Private Equity vehicles. Elyse also completed a 2-year secondment to PwC Perth, Western Australia where she gained exposure to working with clients in the Oil and Gas and Mining and Exploration sectors.

Associate Director and Head of Finance, SRS Europe

Current Responsibility

Annette joined Strategic Risk Solutions Europe (SRS Europe) in January 2018 as Associate Director and Head of Finance Europe. Annette is supporting the firm’s expansion into various European captive domiciles as well as focusing on the captive management client services delivery platform.

Experience

Annette joined SRS Europe following 10 years with Marsh Captive Management Dublin, where she served large and complex multinational captive owners domiciled in Ireland. Annette developed a comprehensive knowledge of the requirements for all three pillars of the Solvency II regime having prepared for the implementation of the regime in recent years and successfully completing the inaugural annual reporting for a number of clients under the Solvency II regime in 2017.

Associate Director and Head of Governance, SRS Europe

Current Responsibility

Mary is Associate Director and Head of the European Governance, Risk and Compliance (“GRC”) practice. In her role, Mary is responsible for the development and delivery of GRC services across the European practice. Mary has recently joined SRS having garnered 18 years relevant experience in the fields of audit, captive management and compliance.

Experience

Mary held the position of Compliance Officer for an Irish branch of a French commercial insurer from 2013-2016. Prior to joining SRS, Mary also spearheaded a Solvency II Narrative Reporting project and successfully implemented the SFCR and RSR requirements for a large number of captives. Mary has also performed Internal Audit reviews for a number of clients during this period.

Current Responsibility

As the General Manager of SRS Insurance Management Services Europe, Malcolm is responsible for the company’s strategic management and development with a focus on execution and delivery of the various Insurance Management services offered to captive and re/insurer clients.   

Experience

Malcolm’s professional career experience spans a period of over 35 years in senior management positions mainly in the insurance and financial services sectors and across a broad-spectrum of varied functions which include operations management, sales & marketing, executive search consulting and insurance.

Malcolm joined Ark Insurance Management PCC Limited in 2014 (subsequently acquired by SRS Europe in 2018) having also worked previously with the local Maltese offices of leading international insurance and insurance broker organisations.
