Current Responsibility

Mike is responsible for the delivery of SRS consulting services, including statistical loss and exposure analyses, feasibility studies, and financial analysis for captives and other types of risk financing programs.

Experience

Mike has over 20 years’ experience in the captive and insurance industries. He has provided feasibility analyses for a variety of captive types including single parent captive, group captives, risk retention groups and cell and series captives. He has been at the forefront of some of the industry’s major innovations including working on the first DOL approval to insure employee benefits in captives and the creation of the world’s first series LLC captive.  In addition to his feasibility work, Mike provides strategic and technical advice to many of SRS’s existing clients. He has written several articles on captives and alternative risk financing techniques and is a frequent speaker at captive insurance conferences.

Prior to joining SRS Mike worked as a Commercial Lines Production Underwriter for an insurance brokerage. He has also worked as a Staff Accountant for a large advertising firm.

Associate Director

Current Responsibility

Wendy is an Associate Director in our Washington, D.C. offices and Chair of the firm’s Employee Benefits practice group.  Her responsibilities include supporting consulting sources with analyses, underwriting and feasibility studies for all single parent and group program prospects and clients assuming medical stop loss, ERISA or voluntary employee benefits risk within their captive.  In addition, her responsibilities include the program management and oversight of group medical stop loss insurance business.  Wendy is a frequent speaker at industry conferences providing up-to-date insight on the use of captives for medical stop loss risk.

Experience

Wendy has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry with a primary focus on the implementation, administration and management of self-insured group captives and programs within the Property and Casualty and Employee Benefits sectors.  Additionally, Wendy served as Director of Operations for a large privately held Medical Stop Loss Managing General Underwriter.

Prior to joining SRS in 2012 Wendy was with USI Insurance Services (formerly Wells Fargo Insurance), serving as a Senior Program Manager of a Reciprocal Association, offering employer sponsored and voluntary employee benefits to not-for-profits in Washington, D.C.

Current Responsibility

As part of the SRS Advisers team, Jesse is responsible for delivering the firm’s captive consulting services in the central United States. Among other duties, he conducts feasibility studies, supports implementation, and provides strategic advice to help clients maximize utilization of existing captives. Jesse also provides thought leadership and education through regular involvement in various conferences and industry groups.

Experience

Jesse joined SRS in September 2017 with 12 years of experience in captive consulting and implementation, risk financing, and actuarial analysis. Jesse was most recently the Practice Leader of Lockton Texas’s Specialty Risk Services, overseeing multiple teams delivering captive consulting, credit & collateral negotiation, actuarial & data analytics, and risk control & claims services. Prior to that he was part of the Risk Finance Practice Group in Lockton’s central services. Jesse began his career in investment banking on Wall Street, working in the Fixed Income Division of Lehman Brothers.
Jesse has experience with captive programs for primarily single parent firms and cell captives, as well as risk retention groups and group captives. His captive domicile experience is primarily Bermuda, Cayman, Missouri, Texas, and Vermont, but also includes multiple engagements involving approximately ten other domiciles.

Current Responsibility

Jonathan assists with feasibility studies, strategic reviews, and the implementation of captive insurance companies. He has also conducted multiple redomestications.

Experience

Jonathan joined SRS in 2016 and spent two years working in our consulting head office in Concord, MA before relocating to our Scottsdale, AZ to provide consulting support to our western US clients. He has led the firm’s best practices initiative for small captives as well as conducting feasibility and technical consulting studies for existing and prospective captives. Prior to joining SRS, Jonathan was the Lead Senior Captive Financial Analyst in the Captive Insurance Companies Division of the North Carolina Department of Insurance. While at the North Carolina Department of Insurance, Jonathan was responsible for the supervisory analysis of captive insurer license applications and other captive insurer financial filings as well as the ongoing financial compliance and solvency regulation of all licensed captive insurers in North Carolina.

Managing Director

Current Responsibility

Patrick is responsible for the firm’s eastern United States captive management activities. In this role he oversees the operations of our offices in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont and Washington D.C.  In addition, Patrick provides assistance to the SRS consulting group with captive implementation and feasibility projects.

Experience

Patrick joined SRS in 2011 having previously been with the company for five years until 2005. He has over 20 years of experience in captive management, insurance accounting, and consulting services. Patrick most recently managed the operations of Wilmington Trust Captive Management Services managing the delivery of captive management services to clients in several US domiciles. He was formerly Director of Finance and Operations for SRS Vermont.

Patrick has experience with captive programs for single parent firms, risk retention groups, and publicly held admitted insurance carriers. His captive domicile experience includes Arizona, Bermuda, Cayman, Delaware, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, and Washington D.C.

Managing Director, Governance, Risk and Compliance Practice

Current Responsibility

Derick is Managing Director of SRS’s recently formed Governance, Risk and Compliance practice. In this role he is responsible for the development of governance and compliance services for captive clients and other insurance entities, and the oversight of the delivery of these services. Derick also maintains an active involvement in the captive management services provided to many of our clients domiciled in Vermont.

Experience

Derick joined SRS in 2007 as Managing Director of SRS’s Eastern US operations and has been in captive insurance since 1989. Prior to joining SRS, Derick was the Director of Captive Insurance for what is now the Vermont Department of Financial Regulation. He has also served on many NAIC committees and working groups and is a frequent speaker in the captive insurance industry. He is on the faculty of the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (“ICCIE”), and has most recently developed and taught the course: “Regulation for Captives”.
