History
Strategic Risk Solutions (SRS) has been designing, implementing and managing alternative risk transfer solutions since 1993.
The company initially operated as a specialist subsidiary of first Arkwright Mutual Insurance Company and then Winterthur International. After a management buyout, SRS has operated as an independently owned captive management firm since 2002. Under its current independent structure, the company has steadily grown its business and expanded operations into different captive domiciles.
Key dates in the company’s history include:
1993 |
Formed as Alternative Risk Solutions (“ARS”) by Arkwright Insurance Company to service existing customers interested in alternative products. |
1999 |
Arkwright sold ARS to Winterthur Credit Suisse Group. Name changed to Strategic Risk Solutions (“SRS”). |
2002 |
Management buyout of SRS from Credit Suisse. SRS starts operations as independent captive management company with representation in Vermont and Bermuda. |
2002 |
Approved as captive manager in South Carolina |
2003 |
Approved as captive manager in Arizona |
2004 |
Approved as captive manager in Washington DC and the Cayman Islands |
2005 |
Established Cayman Islands office. Hired Cayman captive industry veterans Wayne Cowan and Ron Sulisz to head up Cayman operation |
2007 |
Established SRS West headquartered in Arizona. Expanded operations into the western US domiciles including Hawaii and Nevada. Hired captive insurance veteran Ann Wick to run western region. |
SRS has grown to be a leading independent captive management firm with representation in all major US onshore and offshore domiciles. The company has proactively managed its growth and has successfully built a team of seasoned captive professionals to manage the company’s operations.
